Financials in Malaysia

Atualizado: 5 de jun. de 2018

After spending a week in Malaysia, we will now share some financial information about our stay in the country.

In total, we spent 7 days in this country, in two different cities: Penang and Kuala Lumpur. In total, we spent a total amount of 634 euros. The cost timeline was as follows.

Comparing to our daily budget, we performed well, being below budget most of the time. The peak costs that can be seen during the first day is related to the flight prices, since we took three flights to arrive from Puerto Princesa in the Philippines to Penang in Malaysia.

Additionally, the graph below allows to have an idea of our expenditures per category.

The most significant cost category is transportation (the flight to Penang and the bus from Penang to Kuala Lumpur). Accommodation and food & beverage weight only 20% each and the remaining categories are insignificant.

Finally, we also present below an average daily cost per city. Please note that these costs do not include the transportation expenses to get to Malaysia and the transportation between the two cities, since the main goal of this analysis is to identify the average cost of living in each city.

From the graph, it is possible to conclude that Kuala Lumpur is in general more expensive than Penang.
